We were up bright and early, our bodies not knowing what time of day it was! After a quick breakfast we headed out for a walk on the famous Galle Face Green, which is about 20 minute walk from our apartment.Today was Sri Lanka's Independence Day holiday. To celebrate, many persons were out swimming, flying kites, selling pineapples and other foods, and playing beach football and cricket.
We came back to the apartment in a Tuk Tuk (Trishaw). This was quite an experience as these vehicles are designed for 3 persons but the driver assured us that our family of 6 plus a stroller could fit… we were jammed in there but it was fun... and thankfully a short ride!
We took a stroll around the shopping complex, had lunch in the food court and let the kids play in the play zone before heading back to our apartment for a much needed nap.
We ended the day with dinner at a nearby Bistro which had a warm chocolate brownie that was amazing... I'm thinking we'll be back there before we leave!
